EXETER — Catherine B. "Katie" Anderson, 91, formerly of Hampton, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012, at Langdon Place of Exeter.

She was born Nov. 2, 1920, in Boston, the daughter of the late Oliver W. and Helen A. (Caulkins) Bell, and had resided in Hampton since 1976, coming from Waban, Mass.

She was a 1939 graduate of Green Mountain College, Teachers College of Connecticut in 1942 and Boston University in 1952.

Mrs. Anderson was a member of the United Methodist Church and Rockingham Choral Society. She was a trustee of Lane Memorial Library from 1981 to 1999, where the children's room was named in her honor.

She was an avid reader who loved music and gardening.

The widow of Harry V. Anderson, her husband of 62 years, she is survived by one son, Richard J. Anderson and his wife Lisa of East Walpole, Mass.; one brother, David Bell of Laconia; two grandchildren, Jillian and Tyler of East Walpole; one niece, Deborah Fauver and her husband Peter of North Conway; and two nephews and their wives, Andi and Debby Bell of Thornton and Peter and Melina Bell of Lexington, Va.

SERVICES: There are no visiting hours.

Services will be held Monday, April 23, at 11 a.m. in United Methodist Church, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the United Methodist Church Harry and Katie Memorial Scholarship Fund, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, NH 03842, or to the Lane Memorial Library Children's Room, Academy Avenue, Hampton, NH 03842.
