Dr. & Mrs. Charles BaileyHYDE PARK, Vt. -- Virginia Louise (Carpenter) Bailey, 93, died Sunday, April 19, 2009, in Copley Hospital, Morrisville, Vt.

The widow of Dr. Charles Brickett Bailey, her husband of 60 years who died in 1997, she is survived by two sons and their wives, Harold L. and Beth Bailey of Hyde Park, Vt., and Charles C. and Debra Bailey of Hubbardston, Mass.; four daughters and their husbands, Brenda A. Bailey Gruen Black and William Black of Palm City, Fla., Virginia and James Scharf of Ringgold, Ga., Nancy and Arthur Doggett III of The Villages, Fla., and Alice B. and Dr. George Burruss of Memphis, Tenn.; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two brothers and their wives, George E. and Elva Carpenter of Exeter, N.H., and Paul and Janice Carpenter of Annapolis, Md.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank Carpenter and G. Luther H. Carpenter, and one sister, Sandria C. Griffin.

WE REMEMBER: She was born May 5, 1915, in Northfield, Vt., the daughter of the late George E. and Annie Morrill Carpenter. She was a homemaker and registered nurse. In addition to raising her family, she assisted her husband in the operation of his medical practice in their home. She was an accomplished organist and pianist and was always willing to lend her musical talents when needed. Some of her greatest memories came from her extensive travels all over the world with her husband, Brickett.

SERVICES: Memorial services will be held Friday, April 24, at 2 p.m. in First Congregational Church, 127 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton, N.H. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service at the church.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Congregational Society Unitarian Church of Hampton Falls, c/o Beverly Mutrie, P.O. Box 277, Hampton Falls, NH 03844.

The White-Fiess Funeral Home, Morrisville, Vt., is in charge of arrangements.
