Therese C. Balsiger

Hampton -- Therese C. Balsiger, 61, of Hampton, died Saturday, December 31, 2011 at her home after a valiant battle with cancer with her family and loved ones by her side.

She was born June 24, 1950 in Cambridge, MA a daughter of the late James and Josephine (Long) Steele.

Therese attended Cambridge schools and graduated from Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge where she received her RN degree. After graduation she joined the US Navy serving with the Naval Nurse Corps at Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, CA then living all over the country and the world before moving to Hampton in 1988.

She was employed with the Hampton Medical Group, the former Seacoast Health Center and Webster at Rye until her retirement.

Therese enjoyed all the New England sports teams especially the Patriots and Red Sox, was an avid fresh water fisherman and enjoyed crocheting, gardening and bird watching.

She shared 38 years of marriage with her husband, Dr. Verlin “Wes” Balsiger of Hampton.

In addition to her husband, family members include, her son, Verlin W. Balsiger, III, of Hampton, her stepson, Daniel W. Balsiger and wife Judy and their children Chloe and Baylee of San Diego, CA, her stepdaughter, Jayne Romyn and husband Steve and their children Delaney and Zoe, of Boulder, CO, her sister, Margaret Morgan of Derry, brother-in-law Albert Vasas of Tewksbury, MA, brother-in-law Charles Balsiger and wife Kathy of Norfolk, NE, nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Patricia Vasas.

Services will be held at 10 A.M. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Bethany Church, 500 Breakfast Hill Road, Greenland. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Flowers are acceptable or donations may be made to AIH, c/o Cancer Treatment Centers of America, 1331 East Wyoming Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19124. Assistance with the arrangements was by the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, Hampton.
