HAMPTON — Margaret T. Barry, 96, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at her home.
She was born March 28, 1913, in Hampton the daughter of the late Herbert L. and Sarah (Burgoyne) Tobey and was raised in Hampton.
Mrs. Barry was a home economics teacher at Rye Junior High School for many years. She had previously taught school in Vermont and in Hampton for a brief period of time.
The widow of William Thayer Barry, who died in 1983, she is survived by one daughter and her husband, Margaret A. and Wayne McCarthy of East Rochester; two sons, C. Tobey Barry and his wife Sandra of Rochester and Whitney B. Barry of Idaho; eight grandchildren, Chad T. Barry, Christopher P. Fitt, Andrew B. Fitt, Carol L. Corbett, Samuel Barry, Michael Barry, Patty M. Duggins and Michael T. McCarthy; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by three brothers, her twin Paul, Nelson and Lester Tobey and by one sister, Constance O’Shaughnessy.
WE REMEMBER: She was a 1931 graduate of Hampton Academy and a 1935 graduate of the University of New Hampshire.
She was a member of Oceanside Grange No. 260 and the Hampton Historical Society where she had been a past president.
SERVICES: There are no visiting hours.
Services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m., in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Private burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
