HAMPTON — Carl Coburn Bragg, 88, of 91 Winnacunnet Road, died Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, at his home.

He was born April 6, 1916, in Portsmouth, the son of the late Carl H. and Viola (Nudd) Bragg and was a lifelong resident of Hampton.

He was a 1934 graduate of Hampton Academy where he participated in all sports and music endeavors.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Mr. Bragg was a printer affiliated with and part owner of the Hampton Publishing Company and its publication of the Hampton Union. He held a broker's license and was active many years in the real estate business working for a local agency and eventually his own agency, The Bragg Agency. With his late wife, he operated an antique business on Lafayette Road for many years.

He will be remembered for his role as assistant moderator for the town of Hampton and served several years as a moderator for the Hampton School District.

He was a descendant of the earliest settlers of Hampton and was a member of the Hampton Historical Society; the Piscataqua Pioneers; the Hampton's American Legion Post 35 since 1946; a member of Star in the East Lodge 59 of Exeter; a charter member of St. James Lodge 102 F & AM of Hampton; and a past president of the Hampton Academy Alumni Association. He was a former chairman of the Hampton Chapter of the American Red Cross and was formerly affiliated with the Independent Order of Odd Fellows serving as state chaplain.

The widower of Doris (Seavey) Bragg, his wife of 67 years who died in 2004, he is survived by one son, Stacy C. Bragg (Lt. Col. Retired) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Susan Donnelly of Hudson, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will be in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
