HAMPTON – Doris S. Bragg, 88, of 17 George Ave., died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004, at her residence.

She was born in Bradford, Mass., on April 29, 1915, a daughter of the late Edward S. and Marion (Cogswell) Seavey. She lived in Bradford until moving to Hampton in 1929. She spent summers at Hampton Beach from age 1.

She graduated from Hampton Academy in 1933 and from Burdett College in 1935. Upon graduation, she was employed by the Bachelder & Wheeler law office in Exeter.

As a homemaker, she was active in churches, clubs, Girl Scouts and music. She studied violin with Flora Nichols Lewis for many years and played in a family trio and the Hampton Orchestra.

In her later years, she and her husband, Carl, owned and operated an antique business, Bragg Antiques, on Lafayette Road in Hampton, for several years.

She was a member of the Hampton Historical Society, Piscataqua Pioneers, Hampton Alumni Association and the Hampton Monday Club, serving as president in 1947. She was a member of the Rye Congregational Church.

She shared 67 years of marriage with her husband, Carl C. Bragg.

In addition to her husband, family members include one son, retired Lt. Col. Stacy C. Bragg of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one daughter, Susan Donnelly of Hudson, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Louise Ramsdell, Patricia Malone and Nancy Fleming, all of Greenland; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was predeceased by a brother, Edward S. Seavey Jr. of Hampton; and a sister, Ruth Grant of Kittery, Maine.


BRAGG – Doris S. Bragg, 88, of 17 George Ave., Hampton, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2004. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton. The family requests that flowers please be omitted. If desired, donations may be made to the Seacoast Hospice, 10 Hampton Road, Exeter, NH 03833.
