Marion Freeman

PORTSMOUTH -- Marion Freeman, 90, a longtime resident of Hampton, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012 at the Edgewood Centre.

She was born Oct. 29, 1922, in Hingham, Mass., daughter of the late Alan Frederick Hersey and Ada Lincoln Hersey. She was raised in Hingham, attended LaSalle Junior College and married Emery Eugene Freeman. They raised three children, Robert, Alan and Carole. She worked at various times as a secretary.

One of Marion's most cherished activities was singing and she was a longtime member of the choir at First Congregational Church of Hampton where her family attended. She also enjoyed walking, biking and gardening. Despite many trials, she impressed everyone with her positive attitude and was fond of quoting her Lord Jesus' instruction to "not worry about tomorrow."

Marion is survived by her son Robert and his wife Kerry, her son Alan and his wife Dorothy, along with six grandchildren, Jennifer, Hannah, Allison, Rachel, Christopher and Mariah; and two great-grandchildren, Arika and Jasper. She was predeceased by her daughter Carole and sister Barbara.

SERVICES: A memorial service, including an old-fashioned hymn sing, will be held at the First Congregational Church, 127 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton, NH 03842, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, donations may be designated to the music committee of the First Congregational Church of Hampton.
