BELLEVIEW, Fla. -- Vernon F. Gauron, 83, died with family members by his side, at his home in Belleview, Sunday, March 16, 2008.

He was born May 14, 1924, in Newburyport, Mass., the son of Chester Armand and Bessie Mae Gauron of Hampton Beach.

Mr. Gauron ran a taxi cab company, a lobster fishing boat and a general contracting company in Hampton before retiring to Florida in the 1980s.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a long time member of the Hamptons' American Legion Post 35.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years Dorothy (Smith) Gauron, two sons and their wives, Vernon and Colleen Gauron of Plymouth, Minn., Daniel and Wendy Gauron of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four daughters and their husbands, GayLee and Richard Robinson of Hampton Falls, Lynda and Bruce Morock of Sandpoint, Ind., Cynthia and Frank Caperino of San Diego, Calif., Sandra Stubits of Greensboro, N.C.; two sisters, Gertrude Jones of Seabrook, Betty Aprile and her husband Anthony of Hampton; one brother Karl Gauron and his wife Judy of Florida; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Delorees Hill of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Carmen Clough of Hampton,; and two brothers, Merrill Gauron of Hampton and Armand Gauron of Massachusetts.

A memorial service will be held for friends and family members on Tuesday, Aug. 12, 2008, in Faith Community Church, 112 High Street, Hampton.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Faith Community Church.
