Chester Grady

HAMPTON -- Chester Grady, 76, of 480 High St. died Thursday at Exeter Hospital.

He was born in_Lakeport, March 23, 1896, the son of Alexander and Lollie (Matthews) Grady, and was the husband of the late Rae B. Grady.

In his younger days he was an actor in theaters mostly in New York and San Francisco. He was a lifetime member of the American Society of Psychical Research of New York City.

He was a member of the Hampton Players, past president of the Hampton Kiwanis Club and a member of St. James Lodge F and AM of Hampton.

He is survived by his sister, Mrs. Ethel Merrow of Bristol, Conn., and two nephews.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Wilfred C. Files, vicar of Trinity Episcopal Church, Hampton, Saturday at the Ronald A. Remick Funeral Home. Mrs. Jeanne Higgins was organist.

Pallbearers were John P. Little, H. Alfred Casassa, Herbert Casassa, Robert Whitman, Dr. Wayne P. Bryer and George Leoutsakos.

Among those attending were members of the Hampton Players, the Hampton Kiwanis Club and members of St. James Lodge, Hampton.

Pre-burial_services were conducted Friday at the Remick Funeral home by St. James Lodge under the direction of Robert Danelson.

Contributions in Mr. Grady's memory may be made to the Hampton Kiwanis Club's Underprivileged Children's Fund, or the Winnacunnet High School Scholarship Fund, c/o Norman Merrill, Hampton Cooperative Bank.
