SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine – Marie A. Graves, 67, of South Portland, died peacefully Aug. 31, 2005, at Maine Medical Center.

Mrs. Graves was born March 16, 1938, in Portsmouth to N. Eugene and Marion Mahar. She attended Hampton Centre School and graduated from Hampton Academy in 1956. She married Malcolm J. Graves Sr. in 1956 and settled in Hampton to raise their family.

Mrs. Graves worked for the Marston School Hot Lunch Program, Shaw’s Supermarket, and at Maine Medical Center.

Family members include her husband of 49 years, Malcolm; daughter Diane Seehagen and her husband, Glenn, of Waterboro, Maine; son Malcolm Graves Jr. and his wife, Julie, of Hampton; grandchildren Jayme, Julie, Elizabeth, Laura, Kevin, Sarah and Alex; great-granddaughter Emily; and one sister, Geraldine Thomas, of Manchester. She was predeceased by her son, Steven L. Graves.

WE REMEMBER: The family extends special thanks to the staff of P3C and D at Maine Medical Center and the Barron Center for their care and comfort provided during Mrs. Graves’s illness.

SERVICES: At the family’s request there will be no visiting hours. A graveside service will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 9 , at High Street Cemetery in Hampton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital Maine Medical Center, C/O Development Center, 22 Bramhall St., Portland, ME 04101. Arrangements are by the Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road, South Portland.
