Hotel Owner Is Taken By Death

Mrs. Katie M. Harrington, died at Exeter Hospital, Wednesday, August 30, after a long illness. She was born in Gaysville, Vt., December 23, 1869, the daughter of Ernest R. and Katie (Flint) Underwood.

Mrs. Harrington was a member Of the Hampton Monday Club, the Ladies’ Aid Society of the Hampton Beach Community Church and the N.H. Tourists Society of St. Petersburg, Fla.

The oldest business woman in number of years on the beach, Mrs. Harrington was the owner and proprietor of the Laurence House on A Street. This was her 50th year in the hotel business at Hampton Reach, where she was widely known among summer vacationists.

Her only survivor is a nephew Ernest E. Underwood of Hampton.

Funeral services will be held Friday, 2:00 p. m. at the Hampton Beach Community church. Burial will be in High street cemetery. Friends may call Thursday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 at the Sturgis Funeral Home, High street, Hampton.

HAMPTON BEACH -— Funeral services for Mrs. Katie M. Harrington, 80, oldest business woman at Hampton Beach, were held Friday afternoon at the Community Church. Rev. Floyd G. Kinsley officiated. Included among those in attendance were members of the Hampton Monday club and the directors of the Hampton Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Wilbert J. Miller and Fred Hay were honorary bearers. Bearers were Kenneth Ross, Edmund Langley, Sr., Fred Lorenz, Ralph Moulton, Charles Palmer and Armond Pourrier.

Burial took place in the High Street Cemetery at Hampton.
