CONCORD — Helen D. Hobbs, 93, of Concord, formerly of Hampton, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013, at Havenwood Heritage-Heights, where she had resided since 2003.

She was born June 6, 1920, in Waterbury, Conn., the daughter of the late Frederick and Sarah (Wagner) Davis.

Mrs. Hobbs was raised in central Pennsylvania. She received her liberal arts degree in education from Grove City College in Grove City, Pa., and her master's degree from Penn State College.

She was a teacher in Hollidaysburg, Pa., and at the Hockaday School for girls in Dallas, Texas. She then returned north to teach at Great Neck High School in Great Neck, N.Y., for many years.

In 1958, she married Stillman M. Hobbs, and they enjoyed 30 years of marriage in Hampton until his death in 1988.

Mrs. Hobbs was a member of the Hampton Historical Society, the James House Association and a staff member and volunteer at the Lane Memorial Library. In 1978, Mr. and Mrs. Hobbs co-authored "The Way It Was in North Hampton," the first written history of that town.

While residing in Hampton, Mrs. Hobbs was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church and, later, Christ Church Episcopal in Exeter. After moving to Concord, she attended Grace Episcopal Church.

She leaves nieces, nephews and good friends Holly Hill and James Sheehy.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her stepson, Douglas S. Hobbs.

SERVICES: There will be no visiting hours. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, July 1, at Christ Church Episcopal, 43 Pine Street, Exeter.
