HAMPTON -- Gloria H. Hosker, 74, of 5 Hutchinson Drive, died Thursday, July 14, 2005, at the Portsmouth Regional Hospital after a period of failing health.

She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., on Oct. 13, 1930, the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Floy P. (Godshall) Gilbert, and was a graduate of Hallihan Catholic High School with the Class of 1948. She later attended a two-year business college.

She spent 25 years with the Hampton school system as a librarian assistant. She was treasurer and later president of her school union. She received the Stephen Guberman Award from the N.H. Educational Employees for her efforts.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church.

She is survived by her husband of 53 years, George E. Hosker of Hampton; daughters Susan Swift and her husband, Frank, of Stratham, Kathleen Miles and her husband, Gregg, of Hampton, and Tracey Hosker of Alpharetta, Ga.; her sons, George E. Hosker Jr. of Portsmouth and Scott D. Hosker of Atlanta, Ga.; her grandchildren, Casey Miles of Stratham, Taylor and Mallory Bibbo of Alpharetta, Ga., and Bridget Swift of Stratham; her sisters, Mary "Chips" Hiott and her husband, Johnny, of Charleston, S.C., and Betty Gilbert of Philadelphia, Pa. and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Daniel Gilbert.

WE REMEMBER: Mrs. Hosker moved to Hampton in 1967 after years of traveling the country as a Navy family.

She was an enthusiastic participant in her volleyball club, as well as a member, held in high esteem, in her retirees luncheon club.

She enjoyed dancing, musical theater, attending Prescott Park, playing cards, her many friends at home and in Florida, and traveling the world with close friends Nancy and Howard Stiles.

SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 18, 2005, at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. After cremation, private interment will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
