James Inglis, Jr.Rye — James Inglis, Jr., 90, of Hampton, formerly of Arlington, N.J., died Friday, Nov. 7, 2014 at Webster at Rye.

James was born in Paterson, N.J. on Feb. 26, 1924, the son of the late James and Marion (Eastwood) Inglis, Sr. He attended the local schools in Paterson, and went on to earn his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Kentucky.

A proud veteran, James served with the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and was part of the Allied Occupation Forces in Japan. He participated in several wartime engagements and earned four battle stars. James remained in the Naval Reserve after the war and retired in 1974 with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.

James worked as a sales executive for Bohn Aluminum & Brass and retired in 1983, at which time he and his beloved wife, the late Ruth (Covert) Inglis, relocated to Hampton. He and Ruth loved to travel and visited many countries around the world. He was a lifelong 50 plus year Mason, a volunteer for several community groups, and was a Library Trustee for the Lane Memorial Library.

He is survived by his sons, James G. Inglis and his wife, Luzia, and Mark J. Inglis, and his granddaughter, Chelsea A. Inglis.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home — Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Family and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in James’ name may be made to the Salvation Army.
