Dona Janetos

HAMPTON -- Dona Janetos died Monday, March 15, 2010, at home in Hampton, after a long struggle with cancer.

She was born Dona Jean Reagan on Sept. 6, 1928, in Humboldt, Neb., to Charles and Dora Reagan. She graduated from the University of Nebraska, earned a master's degree in English, taught English there for several years, and met and married her husband of 54 years, Peter Janetos of Dover, in January 1954.

The couple had five sons, Anthony, James, John, Gregory and Stephen, and were adored by their 10 grandchildren, living across the U.S., in Arlington, Va., Peterborough, San Francisco, Mill Valley, Calif., and Hampton. She also is survived by two brothers, Gerald and Ron Reagan, of Columbus, Ohio, and Bellevue, Neb.; and a sister, Amy Ebner, of Hot Springs, Ark.

Her husband, Peter, died in June 2008.

WE REMEMBER: Dona and Peter moved to Durham, where she continued to teach English classes for the University of New Hampshire for many years. In the fall of 1968, the family moved to Hampton. Dona became involved with local government and volunteering in Hampton, chairing the Board of Selectmen for several years, and being very active as a member of Friends of the Library, and a variety of other posts and responsibilities.

She was a prolific correspondent and a master quilter.

SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 27, at 11:30 a.m. at the Galley Hatch Conference Center on Route 1 in North Hampton.
