HAMPTON — Helene T. Joiner, 78, died Friday, Jan. 16, 2009, at the Grand Strand Regional Medical Center in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
She was born in the borough of the Bronx in New York City, the daughter of the late James It. and Helena (Mitchell) Casey, and was a longtime Hampton resident.
She was a graduate of Sacred Heart School and Aquinas Hall, both in the Bronx, and a 1950 graduate of the Catholic Institute of the Press in New York City.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton.
The widow of James G. Joiner, who died in 2005, she is survived by three sons and two daughters-in-law, Kenneth J. and Rhonda Joiner, William C. and Michelle Joiner, and Mark G. Joiner, all of Myrtle Beach; one daughter, Lee Ann Joiner Brady and husband Kevin of Skillman, N.J.; two stepgrandchildren; several sisters-in-law; nieces and nephews; and great-nieces and great-nephews.
WE REMEMBER: She was a member of the Catholic Women’s Club. and was active with the Catholic Church OutReach Program and the BPW Hampton Players.
She was a former trustee of Lane Memorial library, a volunteer at Exeter Hospital and a member of the Democratic Women’s Club.
SERVICES: A Mass of Christian burial will he celebrated at 10 a.m. Friday to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Memorial donations may be made to the Winnacunnet Scholarship Foundation. 4 Alumni Drive, Hampton, NH 03842.
