HAMPTON - Charles P. Lamie Sr., 63, of 282 Towle Farm Road, died Friday, Sept. 20, 2002, at his home after a brief illness.

He was born in Exeter on July 18, 1939, the son of the late Howard A. and Virginia B. (Stanley) Lamie. A Hampton resident for most of his life, his family moved here from Newmarket when he was 2 years of age. He was a 1958 graduate of Hampton Academy High School and served in the U.S. Army as a helicopter mechanic.

Mr. Lamie worked 12 years as a mechanic and service manager for Foss Motors in Exeter, for the past 21 years as evening supervisor of the custodial staff at Winnacunnet High School, and also worked five years for the Hampton Cinemas. He also operated a snow plowing and lawn care service.

Earlier in his life he was a special deputy with the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department, riding with their motorcycle team. He enjoyed all forms transportation, especially flying, whether it was in an Army helicopter or spending time at the Hampton Airfield, as he loved to be in the air. He also enjoyed collecting and building model planes, railroads, and cars.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hampton where in his youth he enjoyed singing in the choir. He also was a member of the New Hampshire Custodian's Association board of directors.

WE REMEMBER: Family members include his wife of 39 years, Marion E. (Purrington) Lamie of Hampton; a son, Chuck Lamie and his wife Dede of Hampton; a daughter, Martha Lemire and her husband Roland of North Hampton; four grandchildren, Erin Lemire, Shawn Lamie, Megan Lemire and Shaina Lamie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brother, Edwin Louis Lamie, in 1983.

SERVICES: LAMIE - Charles P. Lamie Sr., 63, of 282 Towles Farm Road, Hampton, died Sept. 20, 2002. Services will be held in the United Methodist Church, 525 Lafayette Road, Hampton, at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited and may call at the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in the High Street Cemetery, Hampton.
