HAMPTON — Jeremiah J. Lonergan, 85, died Monday, July 7, 2008, at his home.
He was born May 29, 1923, in Lawrence, Mass., the son of the late Joseph D. and Mary A. (Dowling) Lonergan. He moved to Hampton in 1984 coming from Methuen, Mass.
He was a 1942 graduate of Central Catholic High School, Lawrence, and a 1955 graduate of Boston College.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II serving aboard a minesweeper in the South Pacific.
Mr. Lonergan was a pharmaceutical sales representative for Geigy Pharmaceuticals for 25 years, retiring in 1986.
He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Olga (Fedorchuk) Lonergan; two sons, Kevin Lonergan of Hampton and Terrence Lonergan of Venice, Fla.; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one brother, Augustine Lonergan of Ocala, Fla.; one sister, Rita Quintal of Methuen; and three stepdaughters, Susan Boden of Barnstead, Patricia Campagnone of Seaport, N.C., and Elizabeth McSheffrey of Annapolis, Md.
WE REMEMBER: He was a communicant and lector at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. He was a member of the Men of St. Joseph and the Holy Name Society. He was active with the Boston College Alumni Association; the Central Catholic High School Alumni Association; and a member of Hamptons’ American Legion Post 35.
SERVICES: There are no visiting hours.
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Monday, July 14, at 10 a.m., in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Private interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lawrence.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
