Margaret Noyes Lovett

HAMPTON — Margaret Noyes Lovett, 93, of Hampton, died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, at Oceanside Skilled Nursing & Rehabilitation, where she had resided since July of 2010.

She was born Jan. 25, 1918, in Hampton, the daughter of the late Walter S. and Margaret (Cherry) Noyes.

Mrs. Lovett was a graduate of Hampton Academy with the Class of 1936. She graduated from Keene State College in 1940.

She taught school for a short time in Greenland before taking a position in the pricing department in the Boston office of the former USM Emhart Corporation, which was succeeded by Black & Decker. She retired in 1971 with more than 28 years of service. She later worked for Tobey & Merrill Insurance Company and also as a bookkeeper for Lane Memorial Library.

Mrs. Lovett was a longtime member of First Congregational Church of Hampton and more recently, prior to her residing in the nursing home, attended Faith Community Church in Hampton with her caregivers. She was an 80-year member of the Grange, past master of the Oceanside Grange #260, member of State and National Grange, member of the Winacummet Rebecca Lodge #26, Rebekah Assembly of NH, and was a member and past president of Hampton's American Legion Auxiliary Unit #35.

She was the wife of the late Roger S. Lovett Jr., who predeceased her in 1978.

She is survived by her best friend, Alta Kimball and her family.

SERVICES: Services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. Burial will follow in High Street Cemetery, Hampton. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
