HAMPTON — John N. MacInnes Jr., 88, died Friday, April 11, 2008, at his home after a sudden illness.
He was born April 25, 1920, in Somerville, Mass., the son of the late John N. and Blanche A. (Staples) MacInnes.
He had resided in Hampton since 1953 coming from Exeter. His family had moved from Somerville to Newfields in 1938.
Mr. MacInnes was a member, former deacon and warden of the First Congregational Church of Hampton; a member of Hampton’s American Legion Post No. 35, where he served as chaplain; a member of St. James Lodge No. 102, F & A.M. of Hampton, and the Norwich University Alumni Association.
He is survived by three sons, John N. MacInnes III of North Hampton, Stephen A. MacInnes of Candia and Walter S. MacInnes of Livermore, Calif.; one daughter, Victoria M. O’Leary of Dallas, Texas; one granddaughter, Chelsea Rose MacInnes, and two nieces.
He was predeceased by one sister, Jane Gerard.
WE REMEMBER: He was a 1938 graduate of Boston Rindge and Latin High School and a 1942 graduate of Norwich University, Northfield, Vt.
He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army Calvary.
He enjoyed antique cars.
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held Friday, April 18, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Road, Hampton. A Masonic service will be conducted at 5:45 p.m., followed by American Legion Post 35 services at 6 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 19, at 11 a.m., in the First Congregational Church of Hampton. Interment will be private.
