HAMPTON — Ann Lawlor Moore, 81, died Saturday, Oct. 2, 2010.

She was born Feb. 10, 1929, in Lowell, Mass., the daughter of Frank A. and Mildred (McDermott) Lawlor.

She attended the Academy of Notre Dame, Tyngsboro, Mass., and graduated from Berkshire Hills School of Art and Sciences. She furthered her education at the University of New Hampshire.

Mrs. Moore was a reporter for the Hampton Union and editor of the Rockingham Gazette, retiring in 1987.

The widow of Capt. John R. Moore (USAF), she is survived by two sons from her marriage to the late Albert C. Hammer, Jay August and his wife Monique A. Hammer of Pukalani, Hawaii, and Curtiss Frank Hammer of Hampton; one granddaughter, Ashley Hammer Kelley of Rye; one brother, John R. Lawlor of Lowell; and two nieces, Faith Ann Lawlor of Lowell and Jennifer Lawlor Clement of Hamilton, Mass.

She was predeceased by two brothers, Frank A. Lawlor and Joseph T. Lawlor.

WE REMEMBER: Mrs. Moore began her newspaper training with the Lowell Sun. She subsequently lived in Honolulu, Hawaii, and became assistant editor for publications at the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, and was also the editor of Pacific Business News. She settled in New Hampshire in 1992.

SERVICES: Calling hours will be held Thursday, Oct. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Robert K. Gray Jr. Funeral Home, 24 Winnacunnet Road, Hampton.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 8, at 10 a.m. in St. Theresa of Lisieux Church, 820 Central Road, Rye Beach. Interment will follow in High Street Cemetery, Hampton.

Memorial donations may be made to the New Hampshire S.P.C.A., P.O. Box 196, Stratham, NH 03885.

At Mrs. Moore’s request a gathering of family and friends will be held at the Hampton home of her son Curt following her interment.

Mrs. Moore expressed the hope that this gathering would be filled with love and laughter, tell stories, tell lies, laugh a lot, love one another and have a good time.
