HAMPTON - John J. "Johnny Pal" Palladino Jr„, 68, of 111 Timberswamp Road died Friday, April 4, 1997, at the Dover Rehabilitation and Living Center after a lengthy illness.

He was born June 27, 1928, in Somerville, Mass., the son of the late John J. and Philomena (Menkello) Palladino.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Mr. Palladino was a longtime restaurateur and was the proprietor of Pal's Pub in Seabrook, which he founded in 1981.

He was very active in the community and was a member and past president of the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce; was involved in organizing the Hampton Christmas parades; the Hampton 350th Anniversary Parade and the Hampton Beach Seafood Festival.

He was a member and past president of the Seabrook Lions Club and a former member of Abenaqui Country Club, Rye Beach.

Mr Palladino was the toastmaster of the annual fund raising roasts for My Greatest Dream of which he was a former longtime board member and director.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and will be remembered for his card-playing abilities and card tricks.

The widower of Ann E. "Betty" (Burke) Palladino, who died in 1995, he is survived by four sons, John J. Palladino III of Everett, Mass., James J. Palladino of Seabrook, Joel J. Palladino of Danvers. Mass., and Jay J. Palladino of Kensington; one stepdaughter, Gall Brennan of Londonderry; six grandchildren; two brothers, Michael Palladino of Brockton. Mass., and Stephen Palladino of Groveland. Mass.; two sisters, Marie Palange of Stoneham, Mass., and Geraldine Palladino of Chelsea. Mass.; and several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated Monday in Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, Hampton. Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, Mass.
