Lloyd Churchill (Pat) Ring

July 18, 1910 - October 16, 1975

HAMPTON — Lloyd C. (Pat) Ring, 65, 401 Winnacunnet Road died at his home on Thursday, Oct. 16, after a sudden illness.

He was a captain in the Hampton Police Department for 10 years and was acting chief upon the illness of the late Chief John Malek in 1959-1960.

Mr. Ring had been a radio dispatcher for the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department for 11 years.

He was a past president of the Rockingham County Law Enforcement Association and was a former member of the Hampton Kiwanis Club.

Mr. Ring attended Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church and was a member of the Holy Name Society. He was the grandson of Lemuel C. Ring, an early developer of Hampton and Hampton Beach and a town selectman.

He was a veteran of World War II serving with the Coast Guard.

Family members include his wife, Mrs. Gladys M. (McCormack) Ring of Hampton; a son, Lloyd C. Ring Jr. of Hampton; a daughter, Mrs. Beverly Ann Prakop and a brother Wendell C. Ring, both of Hampton; five grandchildren, two cousins, Donald A. and Robert R. Ring, both of Hampton and two nieces and a nephew.

The largely attended funeral was held Monday morning from the Ronald A. Remick Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church. The Rev. Dennis L O'Leary, pastor, was celebrant. Mrs. Jean Goss was organist. Jay Halloran was soloist.

Among those attending were Selectmen Clifford H. Eastman Sr., Robert V. Lessard, and James Fallon; Police Chief Clayton Bosquin and former Police Chief Paul C. Leavitt, North Hampton Police Chief Ralph O'Connor, N.H. state Police Captain George Iverson and many members of area police departments, the Sheriff's department and state police.

Burial followed in the family lot with committal service by the Rev. Richard J Kelley, associate pastor of the church.

Pallbearers were Michael Kierstead, Clifford Tilton and Andrew Christie, all members of the Rockingham County Sheriff's Department. Sgt. Joseph MacDonald, Sgt. Robert Mark and officer John Clark, all members of the Hampton Police Department.

Father Richard Gleason of Van. Nuys, California led the Rosary Service on Saturday at the funeral home. Father O'Leary and Kelley led the Rosary Sunday evening.
