The death of Mrs. Caroline (Lamprey) Shea at the Elmwood on Tuesday afternoon saddened the hearts of her relatives and friends. Mrs. Shea was born in September, 1860, the daughter of Charles M. Lamprey and Catherine Osborne. She was one of three children, one of whom survive her. Mrs. Shea spent a large part of her life in Hampton

She was married in August, 1883, to Richard W. Shea of Boston, Mass., a lawyer and graduate of Harvard Law School. Their children were Walter, Helen L. and Mrs. Catherine Franklin of Reed's Ferry, N.H., the latter being the only child to survive her. Mrs. Shea lived out of town for several years after her marriage, but returned to Hampton, where she and her family made their home with her brother, Judge Howell M. Lamprey. After the death of her husband, she remained on the Lamprey homestead caring for her brother and his family. Since his death nearly three years ago, Mrs. Shea has made her home with her younger brother, Uri and with her daughter, Mrs. Bruce Franklin of Reed's Ferry, N.H. and in the South. During the past year, Mrs. Shea has been in increasingly feeble health, and while at the Elmwood she was under the care of a nurse.

Mrs. Shea was a woman of keen intellect and of rare ability. She was historian of the Tuck Memorial Association, a position which she most ably filled. She was an authority on all matters pertaining to the history of the old town of Hampton, which she loved so dearly. For many years she was a well-known writer for several local papers, many of her articles bring unwritten history, unknown and of great interest to the present generation. Mrs. Shea was also an active worker in the Monday Club in which she has been associated for a number of years and president in the year of 1924.

Mrs. Shea was a woman of a most pleasing personality, winning the friendship and esteem of all those who came in contact with her. Her loss leaves an irreplaceable vacancy.

She leaves one daughter, Mrs. Bruce Franklin, a grandson, John Franklin, one brother, Uri Lamprey and two nieces, Mrs. Arthur Penniman and Mrs. John Chisholm.

A committal service is being held at the grave at two o'clock on Thursday afternoon. Father Donnelly of Exeter will officiate.
