Rose Yameen
March 9, 1905 – December 17, 2005
METHUEN — Rose Yameen, Butcher Boy Matriarch, 100. Her passion was her family, her kitchen and her church. She was devoted to each, and each was a lasting source of inspiration. Rose (Libous) Yameen, 100, lived a full and complete life. She passed away on Saturday, Dec. 17, 2005, at her home in Methuen, surrounded by her family.
Born in Kab-Elias, Lebanon, Rose came to the United States at 13, where she joined family members in Binghamton, N.Y. Rose would soon move to Lawrence, where she wed James Yameen and became a homemaker. After the death of her husband, Rose and her children opened the Butcher Boy Market in Salem, N.H. in 1955, and currently in North Andover. She was instrumental in establishing the Butcher Boy Steakhouse in North Andover and Nashua, N.H . She was also involved with the construction of the Ocean Willows Condominiums in Hampton Beach, N.H. In her later years, her happiest memories involved spending time at her family beach house where she cooked happily and endlessly.
She was a member of St. Anthony Maronite Church in Lawrence and was a founding member of the Daughters of St. Anthony.
Rose had friends of all ages, a devotion to the Rosary, and was a true matriarch to her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, William Yameen, Evon Yameen, Thomas Yameen, Kenneth Yameen and his wife Catherine (Paolino), and Joyce Maroun and her husband Dr. Joseph Maroun; and daughter-in-law, Elaine (Gallant) Yameen.
She was the mother of the late Daniel Yameen; and the mother-in-law of the late Ann (Devlin) Yameen.
Rose is also survived by her brother, Joseph Lebbos and his wife Suzanne of Methuen; and sisters, Souad Libous and Nellie Chantiry, both of Lebanon. She also leaves many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
ARRANGEMENTS: Family and friends are welcomed to a funeral Mass, which will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m., in St. Anthony Maronite Church, 145 Amesbury St., Lawrence, MA 01841. Burial will follow in St. Anthony Cemetery, Methuen. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are under the direction of the Boles Memorial-Baron-McAuliffe-Yameen Funeral Home, 184 Jackson St., Lawrence.
