Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon from the First Congregational Church of Hampton for Mrs. Emma J. Young 92, a long time resident of Hampton who, died Thursday after a long illness. The Rev. Floyd Kinsley officiated.

Bearers were Guy Philbrick and Ray Philbrick, both of Rye Beach, Leslie Garland of Somerville, Mass. and Warren Godfrey of Boston, Mass.

Honorary bearers, all Deacons of the church, included D. Sumner Fall, Elroy Shaw, Dean B. Merrill, Dr. Harold Pierson, Walter Clark and Douglass Hunter.

Ushers were Harold Winchester and John Creighton.

Norman Leavitt was soloist and Mrs. Louise Benoit was organist.

The committal service at the grave was conducted by Rev. Kinsley and the Rev. Herbert Walker pastor emeritus of the church.

Burial was in the family lot at the High Street Cemetery.

A native of Rye, Mrs. Young was born in that town, March 26, 1860, the daughter of Charles F. and Mary Marden.

For forty years she was matron at The Ocean House, at Hampton Beach.

A member of the Hampton Congregational Church, she was a past president of Missionary Society and the Ladies' Aid of the church, and of the Hampton Monday Club.

She was also a member of the Women's Relief Corps and of the Tuck Memorial Park Association.

Survivors include two sons, Randle A. Young of Hampton Falls and Marvin Young of Hampton, two daughters, Mrs. Joseph H. Cullen of Portsmouth and Mrs. James L. B. Janvrin of Hampton; six grandchildren and 12 great-grand children.
