Hampton – Dr. Edward L. Zak, DDS, 73, of Hampton, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 2, 2015 after a brief illness.

He was born in Montague, MA on June 12, 1941, the son of the late Louis T. and Lillian M. (Leveille) Zak.

Ed was raised in Greenfield, MA, attended the Holy Trinity School and graduated from Greenfield High School with the Class of 1959. He then attended St. Michael's College in Winooski Park, VT and graduated from the University of Maryland, School of Dentistry in 1964. Ed served his country honorably as a Captain in the U.S. Air Force.

Dr. Zak opened his dental practice in Hampton in 1967 and moved to Scotland in the early 70's where he studied orthodontics at the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow. He eventually returned to Hampton and continued his practice for approximately 40 years.

Ed had many interests, he was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles; he always had a puzzle and pencil in his shirt pocket. He played tennis for many years as well as skiing and snowboarding, up until a few years ago. He was also a talented artist and gifted a number of his works to family and friends. Ed’s greatest love was his sailboat, always riding his bicycle from Hampton to Rye Harbor to go sailing.

He leaves his sons Erik and Jason Zak of Hampton, his sister and brother-in-law Jane and Carl Fay of Greenfield, MA and many cousins.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 6 PM on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in the Remick & Gendron Funeral Home-Crematory, 811 Lafayette Rd, Hampton. A prayer service will follow the visitation starting at 6 PM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Burial will be private.
