To the Residents of the Town of Hampton:

I would like to extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes as you celebrate your 350th anniversary. Hampton holds a special place in the history of New Hampshire and indeed, in the history of the entire country. Along with Rye, Dover, Portsmouth, and Exeter, Hampton comprised New Hampshire's earliest settlement. Hampton's citizens fought in the Revolutionary war as New Hampshire became the first colony to form a government wholly independent of Great Britain.

Present day Hampton holds true to the traditions established by the past generations. The scenes on the town seal, designed fifty years ago, are timeless. Great Boar's Head endures as one of New Hampshire's most famous landmarks. The smell of salt water and fresh cut hay lingers in the air and Hampton Academy continues to produce some of the finest students in the State. I am certain that Hampton will always remain a "beautiful place in the pines."
