350th Anniversary Committee
Town of Hampton
136 Winnacunnet Road
Hampton, NH 03842

Dear Hampton residents:

It is my great honor to extend a Happy 350th Anniversary Greeting to the residents of Hampton, New Hampshire.

From the time the Reverend Stephen Batchelder and his fellow Puritans first settled here in 1638, until the present, Hampton has always been a town in which the inhabitants can take great pride. In fact, some of you in this town now can trace your roots as far back as the first settlers. Your families would not have stayed here for 350 years unless this town was the great community that it is.

As the Representative from the First Congressional District, it is an honor and privilege to serve the people of Hampton in our nation's capital. It is especially inspiring during this historic 100th Congress, where we are commemorating the U.S. Constitution. Our federal government was modeled after towns like this one, whose local governments were in action for over a century before our nation was united as one.

Again, a hearty congratulations on this momentous occasion. I would like to issue a special note to the schoolchildren of Hampton —— take heart in this celebration, for it is an event about which to tell your children with pride and admiration of the community in which you were raised.

With warm regards,

/s/ Bob Smith
Robert C. Smith
