Groundbreaking ceremonies were held recently at the Park Avenue site of the new Hampton Medical Center to be erected by Dr. Stuart L. Barr, Hampton Dentist. The proposed center will have six office suites with off street parking facilities. The architectural designs were done by William D. Maynes and the building contractor is Larry Douglas. Hampton Opens First Professional Building

HAMPTON —- This town's first medical building built with hopes of attracting more doctors to the area, has opened at 12 Park Avenue.

Built by Dr. Stuart Barr, the attractive, modern structure has room for four suites of medical offices in addition to the large suite given over to Barr and his new associate, Dr. Paul E. Hensley.
The youthful dentist, who came to town seven years ago, has watched the town’s growth and noticed medical services. haven’t kept pace.
For this reason he began plans for the medical building. "At least to get into competition for new doctors.”
The spacious quarters occupied by Dr. Barr and Dr. Hensley take up half of the building’s top floor.
Complete with a waiting room, the suite offers private offices for the two dentists. an audio- visual room for viewing film clips of dental work and practices, two stations for each man, a modern laboratory, one station for an oral hygienist due to start later this month, a central sterilization area, a darkroom, and ample storage space.

The modern brick and stained wood building houses the offices of Dr. Frimm, Dr. Barr, Dr. Hensley, Dr. Marchant and Dr. Czachor. The building is completely climate controlled and contains several suites of spacious offices.
Still to be occupied are quarters for two more suites on the upper floor and two on the lower level. The lower level suites would be especially suited to doctors practice orthopedics or obstetrics, since no stairs have to be climbed for entrance.
The back of the two-story building is at ground level on the lower floor, while entrance to the upper level can be made either through the back or a circular-stepped walk in front.
Dr. Barr feels strongly the need for added medical services in the area. He said Hampton is approaching the “crisis” stage in medical service, with a growing population and a number of doctors nearing retirement or restricted practice.
Perhaps with this new facility available the town will be able to attract the medical personnel it so badly needs. This is the doctor’s fondest hope.
