HAMPTON - Cactus City opened its brand new building on March 1 and the Tassinarys are pleased with the response they have been receiving.

"For five years we just offered boots," said Gary, "We realized that there are a of horse loving people in the area and felt there was a need for a tack shop."

Tassinary said that the closest tack shop around is in Plaistow, so he and Darlene saw the need to supply horse lovers around the Seacoast. They decided to expand their boot, hat and clothing business.

The Tassinarys frequented horse shows around the area to find out just what horse people use for products.

"We are keeping in line with, or better than, the prices at State Line," explained Tassinary.

Cactus City has virtually every thing one would need to own or board a horse. Darlene Tassinary is no stranger to horses; she owns her own horse and rides almost every morning before beginning her day at Cactus City.

"I'd love to have some public input as to what we may or may not need to carry," stated Tassinary. The store smells of brand new leather; the many different styles of saddles include Western, English, Dressage and Hunter/Jumper is impressive.

If you can't find just what you're looking for, the Tassinarys are also happy to custom order a particular product or item.

A large bulletin board hangs on the wall and displays business cards and information. If someone is looking for a place to board their horse or if they need information on training or horse shows in the area, than they can read the board.

Cactus City also sells horse wormers, shampoos, grooming products and various ointments.

If you're looking for show attire; Cactus City is the place to purchase clothing and bootwear. "We custom fit riding boots for the hard to fit person," said Tassinary.

Tassinary also has a full line of children's wear for horse shows, including jackets, shirts and children's riding boots. There are all different price ranges at Cactus City and there is something for everyone. You don't necessarily have to be a horse lover to find something you'll love!

"We are really happy we expanded the business; people around here have been so nice," added Tassinary.

Cactus City is open Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Thursdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and Sundays from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. At the present time Cactus City employs three people full time and they will do consignment for English saddles and Western show saddles.

Cactus City is located at 826 Lafayette Road on Route One in Hampton. Their number is 929-0027.
