A CHILI DAY FOR SUNBATHERS -- Out of the hub of the strip there is a new Mexican Restaurant at the end of High Street that is prepared to add a little extra heat to summer. Primarily a take-out restaurant, Los Burros offers freshly prepared Mexican dishes. Soon though, as more seating is available on the porch, owner Suk Munoz hopes to draw some of the "decking" crowd.

HAMPTON -- Los Burros has, the best Mexican cuisine this side of the Mississippi, or so says one of Suk Munoz's loyal customers.

Munoz is the owner of Los Burros Mexican Restaurant located on High Street in Hampton next to Kennedy's and across the way from North Beach. Los Burros opened for business on Thursday, June 23 and Munoz expects to see a lot of business in the coming months.

"I hope to have lots of people coming in," Munoz said."We have a great, big sign going in and it can't be missed."

Munoz has run Los Burros for the last five years out of Salem, NH. When asked why she came to Hampton, her reply was, well, a bit unusual.

"The owner of the current property came into my restaurant in Salem and he liked the food so much that he said he had a place next to the beach and wanted me to move in," she said.

Munoz hated to leave her loyal customers behind in Salem, but she has high hopes for the beach.

"The place in Salem was really tucked away," she said. "Most of our business was from word of mouth. Here, we have a lot of beach traffic in the summer and that will help."

The beachgoers needn't worry about the quality of the food should they decide to stop in. The authentic Mexican cuisine Munoz serves is carefully prepared.

"I make all of my food from scratch," she said. "If I know one thing, it is that my food is good. It's the same quality food that would be served in a Mexican home if you were to go there for dinner.

Right now, Los Burros is primarily a take-out restaurant, but Munoz hopes to have more sit down customers in the coming weeks with the addition of porch seating.

With five years' experience under her belt, Munoz should make this transition smoothly. After all, you can't beat home-cooked food.

Los Burros is open .for business every day from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., so stop in and treat yourself to some authentic Mexican cuisine.
