HAMPTON -- Scott Pontiac celebrated its fiftieth year in the automobile business just over a year ago and is busier than ever and making regular improvements in every phase of the business as it goes into its fifty-second year. New gas pumps had just been installed at Scotties Sunoco Service and new cars were rolling off a carrier right out front.

The new car business is always steady but changing, says Jack Lessard, long time partner with Ted "Scotty" Scott. Right now we are selling the four wheel drive Jimmy, Suburban and Yukon (a shorter version of the Suburban) as fast as we can get them in. Many, if not most of the current sales are to women, a change from years ago when the man in the family was in charge of all automobile purchases. The popular vehicles offer room for six passengers, baby, baby crib and equipment for a ski trip. Not only will they hold "everything" says Lessard, but they drive like a car, not like a truck.

We offer "direct owner contact" that most dealers do not do, says Lessard. Scotty and I are available and have been called at all hours of the day and night. Scotty who has been here over 50 years still comes in shortly after 7:00 a.m. every day and even does most of the snow plowing. We give a fair price on every car and a good allowance on good used vehicles. We sell a lot of good used cars, and if the car can't go on the front line, it is sold wholesale "right out of here." After 50 years we are now selling cars to the grandchildren of some of our first customers.

The agency has a good supply of Pontiacs and GM trucks, says Lessard and, "We have contacts with dealer throughout New England who can provide us with just about any vehicle that a customer would want." When a car is sold that is not the end of the transaction. Scott offers every phase of service from gas and oil to the most major engine or body work. The agency also prides itself on being able to arrange the most economical financing from various sources.

Scott Pontiac-GMC Truck is located at 619 Lafayette Road right across from Shop 'n Save (now Hannaford's). Call them at 926-3355.
