HAMPTON -- Array Corporation recently announced the upgrade of its DICOM 2905 laser film digitizer from 4.0 to 4.3 optical density range.

The DICOM 2905 laser film digitizer is the equipment of choice for users who demand the highest diagnostic image quality for DICOM secondary capture. The 2905's ability to scan a 14x7-inch film at 2K resolution in under seven seconds and its capacity to address a wide choice of applications, relevant priors, primary reads, digital duplicates, or output for teaching files, help classify its unsurpassed utility.

"We're finding that as the adoption of full field digital mammography is growing, there are still some facilities that haven't fully deployed PACS for mammography, which is creating a need for one piece of equipment that can do it all," said Array Corp. President Tom Nardozzi. "Not all institutions are in the position to afford one digitizer for main department use, and another devoted to mammography, even though there are options for that."

Nardozzi said the upgrade enhances the ability to visualize the complete dynamic range, especially considering higher optical density coming from mammography images.

On the whole, the 2905 can help facilities, in particular smaller facilities with less staff, do more with less.
