HAMPTON -- For over twelve years, Cactus City Boot and Saddlery has accommodated the Seacoast Community's horse-riding related needs. Located at 826 Lafayette Road on Route 1 in Hampton, Cactus City started out as a shop carrying Western boots, accessories, hats, shirts, belts, buckles, and turquoise. Owners Darlene and Gary Tasmanian, who also own horses, soon realized the need for a full tack shop in their community as well.

The rest is history. They began to expand their merchandise to include English and Western style saddles, barn supplies, bridles, leads, halters, head stalls, horse supplements, bug sprays, paddock shoes, Western jewelry and both field and dressage riding boots. They carry all horse-related apparel, for either showing or casual riding.

Darlene, who runs the store, works closely with horseback riding trainers in the area to be sure to outfit their riders with the proper equipment. "Many times, students will come in to buy something for a show and not realize what their trainer prefers them to buy, whether it be helmet style, paddock shoe or a certain color. I work hard to know what the expectations of all the trainers in the area have, as to help cut out more time and effort for their students."

Owner operated, Darlene treats each patron as an individual. She feels customer service is the most important thing and takes a personal interest in each of her customers. The goal of her sales team is very simple: be nice and treat your customers how you would like to be treated. This certainly sets them aside from any chain.

Originally, both Darlene and Gary are from Massachusetts and moved up to Hampton Falls in 1988. They fell in love with the area and love animals. Their two quarter horses, Spencer and L.A. are a big part of their lives, as well as their two Boxers, Gemma and George, who you will find greeting you in the store.

Cactus City Boot and Saddlery is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. and 6 p.m., until 7:30 p.m. on Thursdays and 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Sundays. They can be reached at (603) 929-0027.
