HAMPTON — It’s time to welcome a doctor who’s new to the community – and for those who are in need of professional chiropractic care, a warm welcome it is.
Dr. Daven Spencer is a California native who has more than 16 years of professional chiropractic expertise. Having practiced in both Utah and Massachusetts, the graduate of Los Angeles Chiropractic College says that when it came time to settle on a perfect spot for he and his wife to raise their six children, New Hampshire was the obvious choice.
“We just love it here – the forests, the trees, the lakes – we love it all,” says Dr. Spencer, who is also a self-proclaimed avid Red Sox fan. Dr. Spencer has set up shop at 239 Drakeside Road in Hampton, at the chiropractic office recently vacated by Dr. Brett LeClair who has since returned to academia.
While he’s still in the process of making the office “his own,” Dr. Spencer is welcoming his new clientele who have been lining up to reap the rewards of his expertise in the field.
He acknowledges that there are many different approaches in the chiropractic field, and respects all his fellow professionals and their varying techniques. His approach has proven a perfect fit for him, and likewise for the many clients he has served over the years.
“My philosophy has always been quality care, not quantity care,” Dr. Spencer explains. “Every case is different, of course, and some conditions can take time to treat. But the vast majority of the population doesn’t need to be seen 30 or 40 times before they’re feeling great again.”
That quality care has been a driving force in Dr. Spencer’s ongoing personal motivation for his profession.
“What really is amazing to see is the personality change in the clients. You can see the difference. Some will come in and you can see the discomfort on their faces. They walk out, and they’re happy again,” he says.
Others, he explains, arrive and complain how they haven’t been able to sleep well for weeks.
“You can see it their faces,” he says. They come in for that “quality care” treatment, and by the time they return for the next visit, the change in the comfort level has improved remarkably.
But there’s no need to wait until the pain is unbearable before getting treatment or simple spinal adjustments.
“A lot of people have tightness bothering them, but they don’t know where to go or who to see. It might just start as a mild annoyance, and they put up with it for years,” Dr. Spencer explains. “When they finally come in, they say, ‘Why did I wait this long?’ They finally decided to do something about it and are feeling great again.
“Muscles get tight, which causes fatigue. Fatigue causes more tightness. They feed off each other,” Dr. Spencer says. “There’s no need to wait until the point that you’re suffering in pain to get treated.”
In the past, the ability of chiropractic work to treat a wide variety of ailments was largely understood. But with advanced techniques being widely circulated and studied, and the results being published, more and more people are discovering all the wonders that are available to them simply by keeping their nervous system in order through spinal adjustments at a chiropractor’s office.
Dr. Spencer made the decision early on in life that he was going to become a chiropractor after a conversation with his mother. “I knew I wanted to be a doctor of some sort. My mom sat me down and we looked at different options. I narrowed it down to some form of physical therapy or chiropractic – and here I am,” he says with a laugh.
Now, with his family happily at home here in New Hampshire, where he says he hopes to spend time on the lakes this summer, Dr. Spencer is welcoming new clients with a smile and years of expertise to help them feel great again.
So welcome Dr. Spencer to the New Hampshire Seacoast. To learn more about his services and how they may be able to help you or someone you love, call the Drakeside Road office at (603) 929-9255.
