HAMPTON -- With fall now here and the leaves soon to be taking their yearly plunge from every limb it's time to pack up the gardening gear for another year.

But that doesn't mean that the next six months have to be dull and dreary.

Naturally Silk in downtown Hampton has a lot to offer in the way of keeping those beautiful colors all year 'round. The silk flower shop ensures that when Old Man Winter starts blowing, customers will continue to be surrounded by the beauty of growing things.

Autumn colors fill the store with vibrant golds, stunning oranges and deep russets to ring in the splendor of the season.

There are, of course, the things that one would look for during this time of year: Mums in a host of colors, sunflowers, gourds and a whole array of traditional autumn plants and flowers.

"These are the things that people typically think of for fall," said owner Midge Dawes.

There are also less traditional pieces — wreaths bearing large berries, mixed displays of fruits and vegetables, a squash vine topiary and a beautifully colored Japanese Maple tree and Japanese Lanterns that all will make fine additions to the days of fall.

"Everybody loves the Japanese Lanterns," Dawes said. "They're different."

New to the store are feathers, beautiful feathers in a host of striking colors — and one can be assured that no birds were plucked in the making of these beauties.

With the holidays right around the corner, the store has also begun to display a variety of wreaths and poinsettias.

"If the holiday spirit has you we have them," Dawes said.

Items can also be custom-ordered to create the exact look that you're hunting for any room of the house.

As always, the beautiful arrangements and all of the florals and greens offered at Naturally Silk equate to carefree gardening, which means when you forget about them or go away on vacation they won't die.

So if you're not a green thumb or would just like something that is both stunning and low-maintenance; or perhaps you're allergic to growing things, but can still appreciate their beauty, pay Naturally Silk a visit.

Naturally Silk is located at 446 Lafayette Road in the heart of historic Hampton. The shop can be reached by calling (603) 926-5150.
