HAMPTON -- Thermo Fisher Scientific on Friday announced it has sold its building at One Liberty Lane in Hampton for $3.4 million.

"We haven't had people in that building for at least the past six months," said Karen Kirkwood of Thermo Fisher's marketing department. "Waltham (Mass.) has always been our headquarters since we merged with Thermo Electron in 2006."

The buyer is R.J. Finlay & Co., a national real estate firm with offices in Milford.

"It is our intent to create a master plan for One Liberty Lane that will preserve its place as the premier and most prestigious Class A office space in the state of New Hampshire, " said Robert Finlay, the company's chief executive officer.

One Liberty Lane was formerly Fisher Scientific's headquarters facility. Thermo Electron merged with Fisher Scientific and the companies became Thermo Fisher Scientific.

Designed by Royal Barry Wills Associates, the facility sold includes a three-story, 103,413-square-foot building with an extensive collection of rare colonial antiques and artwork. One Liberty Lane sits on a wooded, 26-acre private campus with walking and jogging trails, ponds and footbridges. It is located within the 160-acre Liberty Lane Office Park.

The park is also home to such corporate neighbors as Wheelabrator Technologies and Unitil.

The property's flexible zoning allows for a wide variety of potential uses including office, medical, education or hospitality and various expansion possibilities, according to Thomas Farrelly, executive director of Cushman & Wakefield, which represented Thermo Fisher Scientific in the sale.
