HAMPTON — Joe McCue, a certified wellness practitioner with more than 12 years of experience, has moved back to his childhood roots in the Seacoast to start his newest venture to help people, American Wellness Solutions, LLC.

McCue, who graduated from UMass-Lowell with a degree in mechanical engineering, left that field to pursue wellness. This change came about when he received his first cancer diagnosis in early 1998. Since then, his studies have included becoming a nationally certified massage therapist, a certified personal trainer and a wellness coach.

McCue also received his master's degree from DePaul University in Chicago where he focused on creating, implementing and promoting worksite wellness initiatives.

He is also a wellness educator, having spent the last several years teaching massage therapy and wellness promotion classes at three colleges in the Chicago area. McCue plans to continue teaching massage therapy and has accepted a teaching position at Great Bay Community College starting in January.

McCue has been certified by the Upledger Institute, the global leader in CranioSacral Therapy training, to facilitate its ShareCare workshop. This one-day "hands-on" event is designed to empower participants to be more proactive in enhancing their own wellness, as well as that of their friends and family, by teaching them simple yet effective CranioSacral Therapy techniques.

McCue also consults with organizations helping them create, implement or enhance worksite wellness programs for their employees. In this role, he helps them determine the best path forward in the design, roll-out and evaluation of customized wellness solutions. Research has shown that well-designed worksite wellness programs can generate better than a 3:1 return on investment and lead to healthier, more engaged employees and a healthier bottom line.
