HAMPTON — From tending bar to cooking in the kitchen, new restaurant owner Scott Logan is willing to do whatever it takes to create his own recipe for success.

Logan, 31, is the proud new owner of Logan's Run Family Restaurant on Route 1, a location that formerly was home to O'Leary's.

With years of experience working in the restaurant industry, Logan said the timing was right for him to open his own restaurant.

"Everything was there and it seemed like the perfect scenario to be able to slide right in," he said.

But in addition to his own hands-on experience, Logan comes from a family of restaurateurs who have a proven track record of success.

Not only does his family own and operate BG's Boathouse & Marina in Portsmouth, one of the more popular seasonal restaurants on the Seacoast, but it also once owned the former O'Leary's.

Logan, who worked at the former restaurant, said he feels fortunate he was able to build up a reputation for himself over the years.

"I really wanted to apply what I've learned over the years to running a business," he said. "It felt right trying to go out on my own."

And now that it's his shot, Logan said he decided to reinvent the success experienced at O'Leary's at his new family-oriented eatery.

Logan said the interior of the restaurant has been altered to allow for separation between the lounge and dining room, something he said will allow for a family-friendly atmosphere.

Other improvements include a new paint job, renovated bathrooms and new windows.

"We definitely renovated it quite a bit," he said.

The newly renovated dining room will feature a hostess and waiting area, full wait staff and daily specials including prime rib night, kids eat for half-price night, $5 cheeseburgers, seafood and more.

"We want this to be a place where families love to come and enjoy a great meal at a great price," he said.

But in addition to the changes, Logan said he's found consistency in service and food quality is a vital part of keeping the customers coming back for more.

"It's about taking a hands-on approach to making the place work," he said. "Sometimes you have to tweak it here and there to make sure you're giving the customer what they want."

HAMPTON — Logan's Run Family Restaurant will hold their grand opening on Saturday, Aug. 10.

The grand opening will start at 11 a.m. and run through closing at 10 p.m. that day. Every one who comes will be able to buy one entrée and receive the second one half off, as well as the chance to enter a drawing for a $100 Gift Card. Additionally, each customer will receive a $5 coupon off their next lunch or dinner in the newly renovated dining room.

The restaurant, owned by Scott Logan, is located on Route 1 in Hampton, where O'Leary's used to be, adjacent to Captain's Cove Mini Golf.

Logan is the previous owner's nephew and has been part of the restaurant for many years. He comes from a family of restaurateurs — his family also owns BG's Boathouse & Marina in Portsmouth — and has worked all levels of positions including cook and bartender.

According to Logan, "Logan's Run will be focused on casual family dining. We have separated the lounge from the dinning room to make it more family friendly with a separate entrance to the dining room at the front of the building. The dining room will feature a hostess and waiting area, full wait-staff and daily specials including prime rib night, kids eat for half price night, $5 cheeseburgers, seafood and more. We want this to be a place where families love to come and enjoy a great meal at a great price."
