HAMPTON BEACH — The Village Silversmith has set up shop in Hampton Beach. Located on the first floor of the new Sea Spray Condominiums project, the Village Silversmith specializes in handcrafted silver jewelry and rare stones. Katie Lovasco, the marketing manager of the Village Silversmith, says she is excited about the opportunities the new Hampton store will represent.

"We're excited for the new retail store," Lovasco said. "We've been up in Hampton scoping out the changes and the hustle and bustle and we wanted to be a part of it."

The Silversmith is one of the eight new commercial units at the Sea Spray Condominiums.

The Village Silversmith business started 25 years ago in Rockport, Mass., making hand-crafted silver and stone jewelry and has expanded over the years. The store in Hampton is the Silversmith's newest venture and Lovasco is excited to see how the store does during some of the big Hampton Beach events such as the Seafood Festival.

"We also talked to a lot of local businesses, they were happy with traffic in the summer and in the fall, which made it a very attractive place to us," Lovasco said,

While the store specializes in silver items, Lovasco said their silversmiths also do a lot of work with rare stones and minerals. They also sell and incorporate fossils into their jewelry, such as dinosaur eggs and fossilized fish from Wyoming.

Lovasco believes the Village Silversmith style will work well with Hampton Beach.

"All of our stuff is nautical already so we thought we'd fit in well; the starfish, sand dollars (in our jewelry) really fit in to the beach lifestyle," said Lovasco.
