HAMPTON -- Winnacunnet junior Chris Larivee of Boy Scout Troop 177 recently completed the renovation of the Seacoast Fire Museum at the Tuck Museum for his Eagle project.

He logged more than 80 hours to finish this service project, which must demonstrate leadership and benefit the community.

Since the Fire Museum's opening, it had become disorganized and cluttered with firefighter memorabilia. Larivee's project included painting the floor and walls and sorting through the artifacts. Some artifacts were discarded or were put in storage, and the rest were displayed and labeled.

He also added a new area called the Children's Corner, where kids can try on firefighting gear and ring a bell that used to be on a fire truck.

He enlisted the help of Hampton Fire Department dispatcher Tom Andrews to write a history of the Hampton Fire Department. Also located in the museum is a notebook containing articles and pictures of the major fires that have occurred in Hampton.

Chris took on the project with the guidance of Elizabeth Aykroyd and the help of many volunteers. Almost 400 hours of volunteer work were put into the project by scouts and community volunteers.

Also, many local companies donated to the project, including Foss Manufacturing, TNT Subs, Moe's Sub Shop of Exeter, Zesto's Pizza, Hampton Center Hardware, and Wicked Awesome Wallpaper and Paint.

This project will benefit the many school groups that visit it and the community for many years to come.

You can visit the Seacoast Fire Museum during the same hours that the Tuck Museum is open. For information on the Seacoast Fire Museum or Tuck Museum, call 929-0781.
