HAMPTON -- The year was known for its many changes in personnel. Longtime employees and town officials either retired or left to pursue new challenges while others came aboard to replace them. We look back at the comings and goings of 2005.

After 30 years of service to the town, Hampton Police Chief Bill Wrenn retired to become the new head of the state prisons. Capt. Jamie Sullivan was chosen to be the next chief.

Police Detective Tom Gudaitis was promoted to lieutenant. He replaced Lt. Jack Fincher who retired this year.

Maureen Duffey became the new assistant to the town manager, replacing longtime assistant Karen Anderson, who left to become the new town administrator of Greenland.

Jude Dionne stepped down as the vice president of the Hampton Area Chamber of Commerce.

Ben Moore replaced William "Skip" Sullivan on the Board of Selectmen. Sullivan was defeated by Moore and Selectman Ginny Bridle-Russell.

The Hampton Fire Department lost seven men to retirement; they represented 160 combined years of service. They are Capt. Russell D. Bridle, firefighters Robert Thompson Jr., David Weber, John Karmen III, Kevin Lemoine and fire-alarm operators William C. Murray and Thomas Andrews.

Mary-Louise Woolsey took over as chairwoman of the budget committee. Former Chairman Edward "Sandy" Buck didn't seek re-election.

Denyse Richter joined the Hampton School Board and Maria Brown, of Seabrook, joined the Winnacunnet Cooperative School District.

Randy Zito replaced Ruth Leveille as the new principal at Winnacunnet High School.

SAU 21 Assistant Superintendent Fred Engelbach announced his retirement; Assistant Superintendent Michele L. Munson took a job as superintendent in another district.
