HAMPTON -- Duane and Debbie Windemiller, owner-operators of DW's Oceanside Inn at Hampton Beach, were presented with the Innkeeper of the Year Award at the 91st annual "Stars of the Industry" awards dinner.

The event, held in conjunction with the 2005 Hospitality Expo, took place at the Radisson Hotel/ Center of NH in Manchester.

The couple were among 15 finalists from restaurants and lodging properties throughout the state, nominated and chosen by their peers.

DW's Oceanside Inn has often been referred to by its guests as an "oasis from the world" or as a "hidden gem." Inside the doors of the Oceanside, the guest's every need is catered to. Duane ("Skip"), and his wife Deb have owned and personally operated the inn for more than 27 years. They spend a great deal of their time trying to anticipate their guests' needs. Services such as twice-daily maid service, nightly turn-down, and a choice of breakfast items served fresh at a time pre-selected by the guests make each one of their visitors feel special.

Skip has served on the board of directors for the Chamber of Commerce, as precinct commissioner at Hampton Beach, and Hampton Beach Master Plan Committee. He's been involved with creating Seniors Weekend, Canadian Appreciation Weekend, and the popular Sand Sculpting Competition Week, as well as reorganizing the Hampton Beach Community Church.

In addition to the Windemillers, the recipients of awards in four other categories — Restaurateur of the Year, "Ed Bednarowski" Allied Member of the Year, Lodging Employee and Restaurant Employee of the Year — were announced at the dinner event.

"Our finalists … are not just great workers, they are great people," said Bob Porter, NHLRA board chairman. "Their contributions to the workplace, community and industry are truly worthy of honor. I applaud their efforts."
