Busy Day for Legion
7:15 a. m. - All Legionnaires meet at Legion hall.
7:30 a. m. - Leave for services at North Hampton.
10:30 a. m. Leave North Hampton for Hampton.
11:00 a. m. Parade starts at Legion hall (now in 2001, the Hampton District Court House, 132 Winnacunnet Road, formerly Legion Hall).
New Hampshire will pay tribute to the memory of its dead tomorrow on the observance of Memorial Day with patriotic exercises, parade, and pageants scheduled to be held in many cities and towns throughout the state.
It is expected that hundreds of thousands persons will take advantage of the long week-end ahead and beach businessmen are looking forward to a real busy week-end if the weather is favorable.
Highlights of the patriotic observance here in Hampton is the annual parade, which this year will be held at 11:00 a. m. with many various civic and fraternal organizations taking part.
The parade will form in front of the Legion Hall and will cover the usual course in the following formation:
State police, marshall, aid or aides to marshall, honorary staff, colors. Hampton school band, firing squad, Legionnaires, Auxiliary, Relief Corps, fraternal orders, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and school children.
An invitation to join in the parade is extended by the Legion to the members of all fraternal organizations, school children, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and any others who wish to participate.
Memorial Day Program
Opening prayer: -- Rev. Lloyd Perrigo, First Baptist Church
Orders of the day -- Col. Charles Godfrey.
Recitation: -- "Lincoln's Gettysburg Address", John M. Holman.
Song -- "Star Spangled Banner", accompanied by the School Band.
Recitation -- "When the Flag Goes By", Robert Cushing.
Memorial Day address -- Hon. John Perkins.
Prayer by the Chaplain.
Placing of wreath -- Col. Charles Godfrey.
Song -- "America", accompanied by the School Band.
Benediction -- Rev. Lloyd Perrigo, First Baptist Church
Salute to departed comrades.
