HAMPTON -- Hamptons American Legion Post #35 will conduct their annual Memorial Day observances at several Seacoast area locations on Monday, May 29.

This year's special guest speaker will be Gold Star Mother, Natalie Healy from Exeter. Natalie, who lost her son ITCS Navy SEAL Daniel Healy in Afghanistan in June 2005, will be the first-ever Gold Star Mother to speak on this somber observance throughout the Seacoast.

"We are especially proud to have Natalie speak on this special day, for all the Veterans who gave their lives from every war," says Post #35 Commander Ralph Fatello. "I mean, what better representative to have — on a day where we honor those who gave the supreme sacrifice — than the mother of one of those brave souls?"

Daniel Healy was part of a Navy SEAL team that was shot down while onboard a Ch47 Chinook helicopter that was en route to save four other members of the same team. All on board the chopper were lost, and three of the four SEALS on the ground were also lost.

Extending an open invitation to the local community, Fatello says, "We know you support the local Vets; we know you support the Legion. Please join us in this somber remembrance of our nation's fallen heroes."

The day will start with services at the Hampton Beach Marine Memorial (Lady by the Sea statue) at 8 a.m., followed by services at Weare's Common in Hampton Falls at 9 a.m. At 10 a.m. there will be a short parade in North Hampton with a service at Town Hall on Atlantic Avenue.

A parade in Hampton will commence at 11 a.m. from the parking lot behind the town offices. The parade will proceed west on Winnacunnet Road to Route 1, then north on Route 1 to High Street and on to the High Street Cemetery. Services will be conducted after the parade.
