Selectmen will make a decision on whether to rescind their vote on auctioning off the damaged parts to the town clock.

Two weeks ago, selectmen opted to sell the parts after receiving a recommendation from the Heritage Commission that repairing the clock would be too costly.

Several residents spoke out against auctioning the clock, saying they wanted to start a fund-raising committee to raise the $30,000 to repair the clock to its former glory.

Selectman Ginny Bridle said the board would probably rescind its previous vote.

"If a group of private citizens wants to try to raise the money to fix the clock without using taxpayer money, then I say go for it," Bridle said.
