HAMPTON — ACT ONE’s Hampton Summer Theatre 2004 has begun a brand new season, and will be presenting five great mainstage productions at the Performing Arts Center at Winnacunnet this summer. Performances are Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m., with Wednesday matinees at 2 p.m. Dates and shows are as follows:

July 21-24 — “Noises Off” is perhaps the funniest play you’ve seen in years! Ever wonder what really goes on backstage? You’ve got to see this fast-paced mayhem to believe it.

July 28-31 — “Divas & Diamond” will have audiences marveling as celebrity impersonators Brenda Arena and John Budzyna bring to the stage such Divas as Liza Minelli and Cher, as well as the incomparable Neil Diamond.

August 4-7 and 11-14 — “Forever Plaid.” Yes! The lads-in-plaid return to give the performance of their dreams! And such great songs, too: “Love is a Many Splendored Thing,” “Sixteen Tons,” “Catch A Falling Star,” to name just a few. All this and the entire Ed Sullivan Show in three minutes and eleven seconds!

August 18-21 and 25-28 — “A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum.” ACT ONE’s Summer 2004 ends in grand style with outrageous laughter, zany characters, and show-stopping performances in the funniest Broadway musical ever written. As this fast-paced romp through ancient Greece proclaims, “Tragedy tomorrow, comedy tonight!”

Tickets for the matinee performances are $21 for adults and $17 for students and Senior Citizens, and $25/$21 for evening performances. Discounts are available for season tickets and groups.
