HAMPTON — A Salisbury, Mass., resident was the winner of a new 2011 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide in a raffle to benefit the town’s Mounted Patrol Unit.

Eric Bernardini’s name was selected during a drawing Oct. 10 at Wally’s Pub out of 300 entrees that entered the raffle at the price-tag of $100 a ticket.

Selectman Bill Lally announced last week that the fund-raising initiative held by the Friends of the Mounted Patrol generated $13,500.

The Friends — made up of local business owners — have been fund-raising to cover the $1,400 a month needed to maintain the horses, Butch and Arrow, until the 2011 annual Town Meeting.

The group wants to give voters the opportunity to save the unit after selectmen voted in April to eliminate funding for the unit in the town’s operating budget.
