HAMPTON — Two Hampton police officers have moved up the ranks in the department.
Hampton Police Chief Jamie Sullivan announced last week that officers Steven Henderson and David Hobbs have been officially promoted to the rank of sergeant.
Sgt. Henderson, who is a member of the department’s motorcycle unit, started his career as a part-time officer in the department on April 21, 1986.
He was hired as a full-time officer in 1987 and temporarily held the position of corporal during the summer season of 1992.
Henderson earned his Bachelor of Science degree in 1985 and graduated from the Anna Maria College with a master’s degree in criminal justice.
Over the years he has received numerous awards, including the Combat Medal award, Above and Beyond the Call of Duty award and a letter of Commendation for Outstanding Police Performance for capturing suspects while off duty.
Hobbs, who is a member of the Seacoast Emergency Response Team, joined the ranks of the department as a part-time officer on May 19, 1999. On Oct. 16, 2000, he was hired as a full-time officer and he graduated the N.H. Police Standards and Training Academy on May 18, 2001.
He has been serving as the school resource officer at Hampton Academy for the last two years.
Hobbs graduated from the Framingham State College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1999. He became a member of the United States Marine Corps reserve in 1997 and was deployed to Okinawa, Japan, for one year of service in 2003.
